Frequently asked
How much should my child read each day?+
Most reading researchers recommend 15–30 minutes of independent reading per day for elementary-age children, plus 10–15 minutes of being read to.
What age should children begin reading?+
Most children read independently between ages 5 and 7. Earlier is not better, and later is rarely a problem on its own.
How can I help a struggling reader at home?+
Identify which reading pillar is weak (phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension), then practice that pillar for 15 minutes a day using repeated reading and paired reading.
